A dream, a plan, an adventure!
Richard and Petra set sail from the River Conwy on 5th July 2019 to complete a circumnavigation of the world. They cruised South via France, Spain and Portugal before joining the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) in November 2019 crossing the Atlantic from Gran Canaria to St Lucia in 18 days. Here they joined a rally of cruisers departing from St Lucia in January 2020, heading west around the world and due back in St Lucia in April 2021. However, the World Pandemic was announced by the WHO in March 2020 when Celtic Star and crew were mid Pacific. Negotiations by the World Cruising Club allowed us to sail directly to Tahiti for lockdown. After 27 days at sea Celtic Star arrived in Papeete, Tahiti and has remained in French Polynesia for the remainder of 2020, cruising the islands and then onshore on a remote atoll called Apatki!
