Land’s End, Scilly Isles and an auspicious Surprise!

Longships Lighthouse, Lands End

Isles of Scilly

Last week spent 7 days cruising the Isles of Scilly entertaining 5 guests.

The Isles of Scilly are remote and charming and each has a different character. They are fabulous to visit by boat especially with warm sunny weather. Navigation needs to be accurate as there are lots of rocks and the area is renowned for wrecks! Eg the Torrey Canyon oil tanker.

We visited burial mounds and vinyards, and the wonderful gardens on Tresco.

The surprise discovery was our first Yacht Bilbo, briefly anchored between Tresco and Bryher.

An old Nova 28’ sloop we sailed from Ramsgate to Helsinki and through Sweden on the Gota canal to Oslo, Bergen and Scotland. We finished our trip in N Wales and sold her at Dickies in Bangor in 1989!!!

We are now back on board Celtic Star in Newlyn, a bustling fishing harbour(By Penzance).

following a train trip to Portsmouth, Where we enjoyed the historic dockyard, HMS Victory and Warrior.

Today we are getting our satellite phone set up and planning the next destination!
